The wife and I went to see Gran Torino over the weekend. Surprisingly, she was more interested in that than Slumdog Millionaire, even after I explained the premise of each. Go figure.
We both loved it. I know it's had rather mixed reviews, but I would easily place it in my top ten films of the past 12 months, and it probably deserved an Oscar nod. Unfortunately, this film, to a lesser extent like The Dark Knight, has experienced moderate financial success, and therefore can't be considered by Oscar snobs.
Don't let that keep you from seeing it. Trust me, it's worth the time.

I liked this too, but all of the scenes involving the asian gang were ridiculous.
