I saw a hit and run last night, so I was searching for police reports about it. They post what happened each day, and some of them are crazy:June 5 Walgreen's
1213 Robbery 909 E. 2100 S. 09-99621
The suspect entered the above Walgreen's Pharmacy and approached the cosmetics counter. She brandished a knife and demanded money. She then fled the store on foot. The suspect was described as a female white adult, 5'5", thin build, with sores on her face. She wore a dark green Army field jacket.
June 7 9th&9th Smiths
1531 Robbery 876 E. 900 S. 09-101104
The suspect was seen waiting in the area of the video customer service desk of the Smith's at this address. The cashier walked over and asked the suspect if she could help her. The suspect slid a note to her stating she had a gun and wanted money. The suspect then put her hand in the front pocket of her hoodie and the cashier could see an object in the pocket, which she believed to be a gun. The cashier complied with the demand, filling a blue bank bag with money and giving it to the suspect who exited the store. The suspect is described as a female white adult, 35 years, 5'7", 115 lbs., brown hair in a ponytail, wearing a black baseball cap, gray hoodie, black sweat pants, with a crooked nose and mouth.
June 10
1313 Automobile/Pedestrian 649 E. 100 S. 09-102902
A female adult was standing next to her vehicle, driver door open, engine running, with an 11-year-old youngster sitting in the driver's seat. The woman reportedly was providing driver's education to the 11-year-old. The child suddenly released the clutch with the gear shift in reverse, causing the car to lurch rearward, the open door catching the woman, knocking her to the ground, then running her over with the front wheels as the car spins backward in a semi-circle. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to serious, with a bleeding head wound and injuries to both legs.
June 17 McDonalds by Eduardo's
0044 Robbery Attempt 2310 E. 2100 S. 09-107607
Two employees had just closed the McDonald's store for the evening. As they were walking to their cars in the parking lot, one employee noticed a male crouching behind her car. When she saw that he was wearing a ski mask and holding a pistol, she pushed the panic button on her car remote, causing the horn to honk and the lights to flash. She then ran toward Parleys Way and the other employee ran back inside the restaurant, locking the door behind him. The suspect fled eastbound on 2100 South. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5'10" with a thin build. Great awareness by the employees!
June 19 Three blocks down from my apartment. Awesome.
2333 Robbery/Beer Theft 310 S. 900 E. 09-108879
A female Maverik employee heard a customer yell out and she looked up to see three suspects run out of the store. She followed them out to get a vehicle plate number. Confronting one of them, he turned to threaten her and said he would use a knife. No knife was seen. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer white Honda Civic with chrome wheels, tinted windows, a lighted license plate and a bright blue light on the dashboard. The suspect is described as a short white male, wearing a polo-type striped shirt, denim shorts, and white shoes. The suspects took four cases of beer.
June 22
2133 Strong-arm Robbery 915 W. 100 S. 09-110713
Two male juveniles, 16 and 17 years old, were walking from the Gateway Mall and passing by the above location when they were approached by a group of Polyneasian males who asked the victims what they were doing in "their" neighborhood. The suspects then pushed the victims to the ground, taking wallets and an iPod. No injuries.
June 23 Near Squashworks
1852 Carjacking / Pursuit 500 S. 300 E. 09-111225
The 42-year-old victim was sitting in his car reading a book when he was approached by the suspects who pointed a gun at him and demanded his vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects drove away in his vehicle. Two officers spotted the vehicle a short distance away. They were joined by another officer and attempted a traffic stop when the vehicle fled. A vehicle pursuit ensued, which lasted for a few minutes. The suspects stopped the vehicle at 600 S. 600 E. and the suspects fled on foot. A/P Derik Probstgaard (7-13-84) was apprehended in the block at about 565 E. A/P Michael Jackson (7-13-84) ran into the Trolley Square parking lot, where he was stopped by K9 Jango and his handler. The gun was recovered. The suspects were transported to jail on charges of aggravated robbery, felony fleeing, class A resisting, and obstruction of justice.
June 24 Eduardo's complex
2352 Car jacking / Shooting 2260 S. Foothill Drive 09-112044
A security guard who was working this address heard some yelling. He went to investigate and saw a male Hispanic standing next to a Red Audi run away upon seeing him. The guard found a man in the back of the vehicle who had been shot in both legs. He assisted the victim out of the car, when the suspect who had run off came back with another male Hispanic, got into the Audi and drove off. The victim told investigators that he was driving the Audi in the area of 900 West 800 South when three male Hispanic adults with guns jumped in the car and forced him into the back seat. The suspects demanded drugs and began to drive toward the above address. During the drive, the victim was shot once in each leg below the knees. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. All suspects, only described as male Hispanic adults, and the 2000 red Audi (UT plate #153PLD) are still outstanding.
June 25
0652 Recovered Carjacking Vehicle 1340 S. Major St. 09-112044
Complainant called to report that the red Audi involved in last nights carjacking/shooting incident was parked just across the street. Detectives responded and processed the vehicle for evidence. As of this writing, the suspects are still outstanding.
1706 Stabbing Just Occurred 819 W. North Temple 09-112513
Officers responded to the above location on a report of a stabbing where the victim had been stabbed in the head multiple times. Officers arrived and located 64-year-old victim. He was conscious and breathing. Neighbors had heard screams coming from room #114, so they knocked on the door and eventually kicked it in to assist the victim. Once inside they encountered what they believed to be a female Hispanic or Native American, 5'6", 110 lbs, wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, and long black hair. The suspect fled the scene, yet witnesses followed and directed officers to the area of 153 North 800 West where the suspect was located hiding underneath a mattress that had been propped up against a house. The suspect was taken into custody. It was discovered at that time that the suspect was really a man by the name of Nathaniel Brown 12-31-59. He was booked into jail for attempted homicide. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
